2011 High Powered Rifle Rut Hunt

Snipe Creek obtained record kills during a hunting season that reminded you of a late spring fishing excursion - i.e. high temperatures, gale force winds accompanied with battering down pours.

12 days of the 16 day season saw high temps at 60 degrees.

10 days of the 16 days had winds 20 to 40 mph.

The entire season had 1 1/2 days of the much required deer movement enhancer - that enhancer being "SUNSHINE".

Conditions of the season certainly saved the life of many Western KY deer.

The results and hunt experiences at Snipe Creek, given such extreme and continuous adverse whitetail hunting conditions is astonishing.

Only accomplished whitetail hunt knowledge and experience will translate into a hunt program and plan that promotes and secures the results and experiences that Snipe Creek hunters enjoyed into the 2011 Western KY deer season. A season that will hold the record as the worst "weather" and harvest season, in the entire Midwest, for decades to come!

2011 KY Velvet Hunt

The 2011 Kentucky velvet bow hunt for whitetail deer at Snipe Creek properties was a spectacular experience for the archery hunters.
 
Of the 120 Snipe Creek deer stand sites, 35 individual stand sites were targeted to archery hunt. The 35 "target" stands were chosen from trail cam pictures which proved and documented bachelor groups with mature aged bucks were using the corn (in daylight hours) at the specially selected stand sites.
 
Kentucky bucks are bachelor-ed "up" in early September and are using specific bedding and feeding patterns in "tight" movement locations and patterns. Hunting the "specific" stands at locations which mature bucks were identified set the stage for the 2011 velvet hunt plan.
 
Senior guides Jason , Eddie and myself determined that 10 velvet archery hunters would be needed to adequately cover the 35 stand sites and specific bucks that would be hunted on the Western Kentucky archery velvet deer hunt at Snipe Creek.
 
Results experienced by the archery hunters from Snipe Creeks 2011 hunt plan were consistently productive (which was expected).100's of velvet bucks were seen and thirty (30) plus 130 inch and above Pope and Young deer were documented as being seen by the archery hunters.
 
Kills were very respectable. / Hunters walked many 125 + inch animals. / Some clean misses occurred./ A few pull backs just didn't quite work out. / Conditions of the day were overcome by a solid purposeful hunt plan.
 
Quality seasoned archery hunters that recognized Snipe Creeks hunt culture got their moneys worth.
