(August 4, 2010) As you can see we are
continuing to get plenty of trail camera
pictures which demonstrate our ability to
consistently pattern mature whitetail bucks.
Currently we are putting the final touches on
our velvet hunt plan. We've been in the woods
everyday ensuring all hunting stands are in top
shape and ready for the September 4th opening
day. Our diligent work throughout the spring and
summer has paid off and now we patiently await
an explosive September velvet hunting
experience.
Take note that we will be shutting the
cameras down very soon. We are doing this to
minimize the human impact and keep from
disturbing the bucks before the hunting season
opens.
(July 19, 2010) The 2010 Velvet Trail-Cam
pictures from Snipe Creek Properties are
confirmation that we will get a record number of
mature Kentucky whitetails in front of a lot of
hunters during the 2010 Kentucky deer season. At
Snipe Creek we will only be hunting these
matures when its productive to do so. This hunt
plan keeps the does on our properties and the
bucks will be abundant!!! We will not hunt dead
dates that offer little or no chance to see a
mature.

Choosing an Outfitter
Your chosen outfitter should be a year around
dedicated professional hunter who is not
burdened with additional occupational duties. I
highly advise all potential clients to take the
time to conduct research and find articles
discussing how to pick a good outfitter. While
doing so I also suggest that you carefully
investigate all potential outfitters in the
region. I will not bore you with a check list
but I do advise you to ask the outfitter exactly
what they do for a living. It would be wise to
hunt with a professional outfitter who has
dedicated 30+ years to QDM and spends each day
building a solid hunt plan year after year. If
not, you may get stuck hunting with a person
using his vacation time off from work vice
hunting with a professional outfitter.
I have a simple premise; if you expect
professional performance hire a reputed
professional for the job. In other words, if you
want to build a quality house, call a
professional contractor. If you want to kill a
mature whitetail buck, call me.
Example: Some fledging hunting outfitters will
continue trail camera work, stand placement, and
take daily "scouting" trips all the way into the
November rut hunt. This last minute hunting
style conducted by the inexperienced is nothing
more than a desperate attempt to find an angle
on a mature whitetail. Obviously a mature
whitetail buck will not tolerate daily scouting
trips from August through November. This hip
pocket hunt plan leads to trampling the ground
and ensures that all of the mature bucks will
leave the county. This style of hunting is
prevalent amongst second rate outfitters whose
current vocation is supplemented by outfitting
as a source of extraneous income.
Here at Snipe Creek we conduct post season
scouting from January through March and spend
the remainder of the spring improving food
plots. From late spring throughout the entire
summer we spend our time moving deer stands and
improving others. We base our stand placement
off of our early spring scouting and the past
several seasons of hunting results. After 30+
years of experience I have the requisite
knowledge to recognize that mature whitetail
bucks change locations with the seasons,
available cover, food resources and hunting
pressure. I know for a fact that conducting
daily scouting well into deer season is the best
way to consistently run the mature bucks out of
your core hunting area. When you hunt with me
it's not just half-hearted trip back and forth
from deer stands. Allow me to impart countless
years of experience and first hand know how into
your hunting archives. I promise you will walk
away a better hunter and leave with life long
experience that will vastly improve your deer
hunting techniques.
(April 22, 2010) Velvet growth at Snipe Creek
has begun. Velvet pictures will be updated
often. Food plots and mineral liks will be our
trail cam targets.
Right now the does are well into their 7
month gestation period and are currently eating
a 25% protein diet provided by our numerous food
plots spread throughout the Snipe Creek
Management Properties. During this critical
phase of development we provide the most
nutritious food sources available ensuring the
maximization of genetics and antler growth.
These pregnant does will bear fawns that will
have a huge jump on life and turn into 120"
bucks in 2 years with some exceeding 140" at
3. In other words we are feeding these bucks a
25% protein diet from the day of their inception
to the day they adorn your wall! results like this from one or
two food plots haphazardly planted a year or two
ago. This dedication to Quality Deer Management
comes from over 20 years of experience and our
personal endeavor to enhance the overall health
and quality of the deer herd in this region.
Evidence of our Snipe Creek Management Program
can be seen in the post season,
2010 trail cam pics, and the
2009 velvet trail cams.
