3 very dedicated bow hunters. Phillip (with
the kill), Joey, and Matt. Phillip hunting a 3
1/2 old deer that Snipe Creek had zeroed in on,
was in a new set, adapted to move with the
changing deer feeding habits as the acorns
started to fall.
With basically no trim out on the new set,
Phillip pushed the arrow through tight cover to
the top side of a very relaxed seasoned Kentucky
Pope and Young whitetail's heart.
That very evening Joey almost closed the deal
on a bigger Kentucky buck, and the evening
before Joey had a real monster at a few yards in
the last shooting light of the day.
Matt had his own special Kentucky deer hunt
with 2 - 115 inch 2 1/2 year old 8 pointers
feeding in front of him in one of Snipe Creeks
food plots for a long time.

Opening Weekend of Velvet Bow
- 2 Clean Misses 140" - 150" Bucks at 30
Yards and Less
- Miss #1 - One hunter missed 3 times at a
bachelor group of 3 matures at 25 yards. (Proper
hunter concealment kept the 3 matures at 25
yards while 3 arrows fell off the hunters
string.)
- Miss #2 - One hunter missed a Split Brow
Tine Heavy Bone Mature at 30 yards.
- Additionally some archers walked 125"
Pope and Young deer, holding out for their own
personal best trophy. Some archers reported
seeing 140"-150" deer beyond bow range.
Kentucky Deer Hunt Details...
Steve Lovingood, Ashville North Carolina;
Steve's second year to Kentucky bow hunt at
Snipe Creek. Last year 2009 during the Nov Ky
bow rut hunt, Steve took a Pope and Young 125
inch deer that guide Jason Mott rattled into 7
yard bow range.
2010, Steve hunted the September, West Ky Velvet
Bow hunt. Steve hunted 2 stands for the same
deer....altering with wind conditions. Hunting
the same location 4 days in a row, the 4th
evening around 6:00 p.m. the 7 + year old's
heart pumped the last blood into his own chest
cavity as the G-5 slid squarely across the top
of his heart, severing both major valves. In 40
yards, 7 or so years of free range had ended for
the Western Kentucky Whitetail.
In many years of bow hunting ,with the help of
Snipe Creeks hunt plan, Steve had taken his
second pope and young whitetail 2 years
consecutive at Snipe Creek Lodge. Steve stayed
on stand at the same location as advised and his
patience paid off handsomely. The green score is
148 with 4 inches of deductions.
