Important Knowledge About Hunting Ky Matures

  • My hunt plan is simple – Hunt the matures when you have a chance to see them!

  • There are several days in western KY that are not good to hunt matures!

  • Four (4) specific, short periods of time are best to see and get a shot on a big mature.

  • Call me and I will share the knowledge. I do not hunt on “dead” dates – that only tramples the ground.

  • The above fact is highly overlooked by outfitters and people looking for a hunt!

  • I don’t wish to publicize all the details of my overall hunt plan – but you can only hunt here when the big bucks are on their feet in high-density!

  • I will give an example: Most outfitters book October 16th-31st. These 2 weeks are a dead time for bucks to move…period! Bucks are resting for the rut and disappear almost completely from the KY woods.

  • Hunting those 2 weeks will ensure a sub-standard hunt. If an outfitter hunts those 2 weeks, the good hunts that arrive November 1st and on are altered by the pressure.

  • I would not hunt that outfitter at any price – that’s a fact!

  • Several other dates are bad as well. The result is a weak posting of annual kills.

  • My web shows more 2009 kills by far than any that I am aware of, and if we had gotten all the makeable shots on the ground, there would be 3x the kill pictures.

  • Outfitting is my only occupation. With me "the season never ends" and I work 12 months to get a lot of matures in front of hunters. Expect your chosen outfitter to be an Outfitter.

Where the Hunt Begins

(April 8, 2010) The impact of 100+ well maintained and strategically placed rich and nutritious food plots, combined with vast habitat enhancement has changed the positioning, travel routes, bedding areas and feeding zones of most herds of deer in a 5 mile square. (Snipe Creeks hunt zone)

Last summer '09, it was ubiquitous to see herds of 10-20 bucks in every bean field around and on Snipe Creek's Properties. Most often half of said bucks were 3.5 and older with 130-175 inch racks. When the green fields dried, most all the bucks headed for another known food sources - food sources on Snipe Creek Properties.  Deer season came and out of town hunters looking for a Kentucky deer hunt got their moneys worth. Snipe Creek Properties put the smack down on a lot of big Western Kentucky deer (bucks).

This summer of 2010 there will be even more and bigger deer in those visible green soybean fields. Again as the beans turn yellow and waxy those big bucks will b-line it to their known food sources on Snipe Creek Properties. 2010 will be another record season at Snipe Creek Properties.

Consistently successful Western Kentucky deer hunts are strongly correlated to food source and habitat improvements. Hunt plans that consider such improvements will offer what any hunter seeks. A moment with nature that will explode with that hunt of a lifetime.

Good news Jason, I found your Pope and Young Kentucky Trophy Deer - Bow Kill.

To the 2009 Hunters:

Thank you guys/gals so much for the many beautiful thank you notes related to your 2009 Kentucky Deer Hunt at Snipe Creek Lodge.

The many expressions of gratitude is a beautiful reward for the constant 12 months of work, thoughts, effort and the insane amount of experience/stand hours that goes into every Ky. whitetail hunt offered.

A lot of you were rewarded with a magnificent Ky. whitetail. A lot more of you missed the chance/shot on the Ky. Big Buck. That is universal, don't feel too bad.

Most all of you were rewarded with much more:

1) Knowledge that will minimize stand mistakes which will enhance all your future hunts.
2) Food plot "secrets" that will certainly enhance your future whitetail hunting.
3) Lifelong memories with your Dad, son, buddies, wife, husband, etc.

Thanks so much!
