The early September velvet hunt was for
about 1 week. The next Kentucky deer hunt will be the October
3-day bow, 2-day powder combo (Oct. 14,15,16,17,18).
Opening
Week of Velvet Bow
•
3 misses on
approximately 130" bucks
•
1 velvet kill
•
Tough full moon conditions and temps
•
One hunter, Titus, that took this 10-pointer had
the hunt of his life. He saw 20 bucks, 10 of which were matures,
and ended up taking this 10-pointer. It was a low gut shot. The
9-year marine sniper trainer, Jason Mott, tracked the animal in
a jungle of saplings and briars. The recovery of this animal was
a pure display of a trained marine.

Second Week of
September Bow
Kenny - 20 years old
- First Bow Kill
Info: Double lung at
27 yards, little to no blood trail for 150 yards through
5 foot tall grass; then 100 yards of decent blood trail
leading to no blood trail; then a speck or two for 50
yards to the dead 250 lb., 4 1/2 year old bruiser laying
in 6ft. tall weed field.
Track time: 2
hours
Tracker: Jason Mott
Kenny's story: 2
matures came to the corn pile at 7:00 p.m. Heads of both
matures were concealed by leaf cover, as planned by
Snipe Creek's guides. Kenny was able to make an
undetected draw and kept it together to double lung a
wiry, wise, and old mature on his Kentucky Whitetail
Hunt.
Chris - 41 years
old, new to bow hunting, first bow kill
Info:
Double lung at 30
yards. This is an example of how fast our Kentucky deer can
reach 120 inches. Despite the huge body and impressive rack,
this deer is just 2 1/2 years old. A very respectable first bow
kill. Our woods/area is literally full of this caliber deer,
representing a constant replaceable resource to our Kentucky Big
Buck Hunt.
Chris' story: 2
Bucks on the bait station. The ample cover allowed Chris to take
his first buck without detection.
Additionally, Chris
followed up with a double lung shot to doe at 25 yards. Again
undetected by leaf and branch concealment. Good job of
"threading the needle."
Scott & Rachael (husband and wife)
- Well, Scott experienced a lifetime
hunt.
Info: 3 shooters at 113 yards for 20
minutes. Here are his notes from the hunt.
•
3 shooters at
6:45 a.m.
•
12 pt. 145+ and all bloody with large piece of velvet
hanging off
•
2 ten points, 130s
•
2 small bucks; fork horn and 6
point
•
5
does

Scott & Megan (husband and wife)
Info: Hunting
together, Scott double lunged this doe and Megan tracked
it out. Lots of leaf and branch cover allowed them to be
undetectable. Nice job with pushing an arrow through.
Scott also saw
bucks - good shooter bucks sparring, but the light was
just too dim, even at close range.

Snipe Creek's Skinning Team - Clay Doron (11) and
Cassa Doron (8) (my children)

Dinner Preparations - The vegetables are from a
neighborhood organic farm - good stuff.
Kentucky Bow Hunting Style/Methods at Snipe Creek
-
Shooting windows will be perfect if you
are a seasoned, mature whitetail hunter.
-
If you have limited stand hours/experience
with a bow in your lap, then you will perceive our bow
hunting sets to be a "little thick".
-
Our shooting windows are perfectly
designed and will give you your best opportunity at getting
a mature within 25 yards and then the cover to slice an
arrow into his heart/lungs.
-
So if you lack stand hours and experience
at hunting matures, then come and learn.
-
If you are an advanced deer/bow hunter,
come and enjoy bow sets that will give you the confidence
and ability to kill a mature Kentucky whitetail on a
free-range deer hunt.
-
If you lack stand hours and are unwilling
to learn/adapt to hunting mature whitetails, then continue
to watch those bobbling heads elsewhere. ~Carl Doron
Hunter Experiences
Scott Siefert writes:
"Just wanted to drop a quick email to say
'thank you'. My wife and I had a wonderful time. You have quite
the remarkable whitetail hunting operation...we had a wonderful
time witnessing the large bucks of Kentucky." ~Scott Siefert
This is what a 65-year old, lifetime whitetail
hunter emailed me after his 3-day early September bow hunt...
"I will say again that your hunt/camp is one
of the most professional I have seen, and even though I could
not shoot a deer, it was a pleasure to be in camp. You will
definitely see my son and I for the last week in October."
